RBG1000, 2000

For many applications in research, development and quality assurance and for the calibration of particle measurement devices, low‐concentration powder aerosols with a concentration of just a few mg/m3 are required. The RBG system has been employed worldwide with great success for over 25 years to reliably disperse non‐cohesive powders such as mineral dusts, medical compounds, pollen, and so forth in the size range < 100 μm and a fine fraction of < 100 nm. Monolithic solids such as chalk used in schools are dispersed finely with highest dosing constancy. The special advantage of this dispersion system is that with a quick, easy exchange of the powder reservoir, mass flows of about 40 mg/h to 430 g/h in the case of the RBG 1000 and of about 200 mg/h to 560 g/h in the case of the RBG 2000 can be dispersed with the highest level of dosing constancy.

Powder disperser for medium and high mass flows

Solid aerosols from powders and dusts are needed for many applications in research, development and quality control. For more than 20 years the BEG 1000 has been used successfully for the reliable dispersing of non-cohesive powders, like for example test dusts, in the size range < 200 11m up to flame soot in the size range < 100 nm. The special advantage of this dispersion system is the fact that it can be used continuously with highest dosing constancy, both for low mass flows with the BEG 1000 type A (e.g. 8 gIh) and for high mass flows with the BEG 1000 type B (e.g. 6 kgIh). Due to the special built-in components in the reservoir, the plane conveyor belt and the special ejector dispersion nozzle, the BEG 1000 supplies a finely dispersed aerosol with highest dosing constancy.

AGK2000

Solid aerosols from suspensions,solutions and biological agents

Solid aerosols from suspensions and solutions, such as NaCl and KCl, are needed for many applications in research, development and quality assurance. Several standards specify NaCl or KCl aerosols as test aerosols for the development and comparison of filter media and filters. For test aerosols to be worth their name, their particle size distribution and particle concentration have to remain constant throughout the testing period. Furthermore, the particle size distribution and concentration must be repeatable.
A specially developed nozzle ensures that these requirements are fulfilled by preventing salt crystals from crystallising at the nozzle exit. Thus it is possible to make repeatable adjustments to the particle size spectrum, in the range from approximately 5 nm to 15 11m, depending on the solution concentration. Optionally pressure-resistant up to 10 bar.

PLG

Droplet aerosols are needed for many applications in research, development and quality assurance. In particular for quality assurance and calibration of particle measurement devices, Palas® aerosol generators ensure clear results due to their reliable characterisation. In order to be able to perform practical analyses and comparisons, droplet aerosols must be generated from fluids that are also used in the real world. Fluids such as H2O, DEHS, motor oils, white oil etc. differ significantly in viscosity, surface tension and density. Depending on the fluid, different atomisation principles offer particular advantages. In the PLG system, a nozzle system developed by Palas® is used. Depending on the application, a special nozzle with heating option is used to adjust the desired particle size distribution and concentration quickly and reproducibly.

MAG

For  more than 25 years,  the Palas®  GmbH    has  distributed, modified and built monodisperse aerosol generators.

The entire accumulated knowhow in this field is reflected in the MAG  3000  and  provides  particular  advantages  to  the  user. The   MAG 3000 thereby exceeds conventional Sinclair-LaMer generators.
  • Due to the special core source developed by Palas®, no drying system, i. e. no silica gel for the drying of the condensation cores is necessary.
  • Due to the bypass technology around the core source developed by Palas®, larger particles can be generated within approx. 10 seconds.
  • Due to the new technology, only one volumetric flowmeter is necessary.
  • The mechanical separation of electric supply and particle generation ensures a maximum of safety.

AGF

For acceptance measurements of clean rooms, leak test and test of HEPA/ULPA filters

The test of high-efficiency aerosol filters of the quality H10 - U17 is tested according to international conventions with an aerosol which exhibits the predominant number of particles in the so-called MMPS range (Most Penetration Particle Size).
A high-efficency aerosol filter of the quality U17 is defined with E= 99,999995%. The MPPS range lies approximately between 50 nm and 0.4 J.m. Big particles > 1 J.m are  separated by such filters by 100 %. In order to test a filter with U17 quality, e.g. 100,000,000 particles must be fed per minute in front of the filter to ensure that behind the filter still 10 particles per minute can be proven.
Big droplets generate high mass flows and contaminate such filters in such a way that during the tests the filters are tested better than they really are due to the droplet loading.
With the sampling of particles < 2 J.m an exact isokinetic sampling is not necessary. For these reasons the AGF system has been used successfully for these applications all over the world for more than 25 years.

 

Welas

The new welas® digital is a flexible, powerful and economical light‐scattering spectrometer system, which determines the particle concentration and the particle size precisely and reliably. Using fibre‐optic cables, welas® sensors – equipped with measurement volumes of varying sizes – can be easily attached to the welas® digital 2000 and 3000 and exchanged at will. These sensors make possible a reliable measurement in the concentration range from <1 P/cm3 to 106 P/cm3. The sensors are available for measurements in gases as well as in liquids. Please refer to the datasheet “welas® sensors”. Temperature range sensors: from ‐90 °C to +70 °C (standard) optional up to 250°C; (higher upon request) Pressure range sensors: optional up to 10 bar overpressure (higher upon request) The welas® digital is based on the light‐scattering analysis of the individual particle. In the new welas® digital, the particular advantages of the well‐known and internationally proven welas® system are combined with a new and quick digital individual signal processing and coincidence correction is made possible. The best classification accuracy and the best size resolution regarding the particle size are guaranteed by the following characteristics (see Diagram 1):

  • New digital individual signal processing  Coincidence detection and correction at the individual signal making it possible to measure up to a factor of 5 above the max. concentration limit of each sensor.

Promo

Promo® is a light-scattering spectrometer system for particle size analysis and concentration determination that can be equipped with all welas® sensors . Using fibre-optic cables, welas® sensors – equipped with measurement volumes of different sizes – can be easily attached to the Promo® 2000 and Promo® 3000 and exchanged at will. These sensors make possible a reliable measurement in the concentration range from <1 P/cm3 to 106 P/cm3. The sensors are available for measurements in gases as well as in liquids. Please refer to the datasheet “welas® sensors”. A touch display ensures user-friendly operation. Measurements can be started easily, and all data, such as the current number distribution and the number concentration, as well as 24 further statistical values, can be evaluated and displayed in real time. Promo® can be operated as a stand-alone measurement device (i.e. without external pc) for continuous measurement. All incoming data can be stored with a max. temporal resolution of 1 second. Promo® can thus autonomously measure for weeks and store the generated data. For data transfer, Promo® can also be integrated into a company network. Optionally, a printer can be connected as data recorder. Promo® has a standard interface and can be controlled by a process control system or by a simple Labview program. Promo® is therefore particularly suitable for control and monitoring applications. For this device, Palas® offers remote maintenance and data access via www.palas.de/user.

Fidas mobile

The Fidas&reg; mobile is designed as a portable handheld device with battery or mains operation. It simultaneously measures the environmental mass fractions PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, TSP or the indoor mass fractions respirable, thoracic, and inhalable according to DIN EN 481. In addition it also reports the particle number and &ndash; if desired &ndash; the particle size distribution in up to 64 size classes in the particle size range of 0.18 &ndash; 18 &mu;m. For continuous measurements, a time resolution from one second to hourly or daily mean values can be set. The Fidas&reg; mobile is equipped with a data logger with 4 GB Compact Flash memory and WLAN support. The firmware supports complete remote access with remote maintenance, and optional data storage via www.palas.de/user. Furthermore the Fidas&reg; mobile can be equipped with additional sensors for detecting the ambient conditions, temperature, air pressure and relative humidity. For emission measurements in exhaust ducts, the Fidas&reg; mobile can be connected to an isokinetic sampling probe.
